Hi Friends! We just got back from Palm Springs and while 6.5-7 hours in the car is no easy task with two little ones, it was totally worth it to spend a few days in sun! We decided to take a few road trips this winter knowing that we were most likely going to be staying on the west coast for the holidays. It felt like the perfect time to get away safely by doing road trips, staying in Airbnb’s, and enjoying a change of scenery.
There are so many fun things to do in and around Palm Springs, but we really mostly stuck to the house this trip! We went into the trip with little plans so we could really enjoy relaxing by the pool and slowing down. We rented an amazing AirBnB with a pool, hot tub, fire pit & outdoor kitchen so we could have plenty to do at home and keep the kids entertained. Our last trip to Palm Springs we stayed at the Parker Hotel (which is AH-MAZING) but we didn’t want a hotel due to COVID concerns and to be honest, the Parker while beautiful isn’t exactly kid-friendly.
A big highlight of the tip was visiting Joshua Tree. It was a little over an hour from our Airbnb and totally worth the extra drive. We packed up snacks & lunch and decided on a kid-friendly trail that had picnic tables & was just over 1 mile start to finish. If you’re ever visiting Palm Springs, a quick trip out to Joshua Tree is a must IMO.
The only other activity we did outside of the house was a trip on the Aerial Tramway , which is the worlds largest rotating tram car that overlooks all of Palm Springs and takes you directly up to Mt. San Jacinto. The views are absolutely breath-taking!
We didn’t go out to eat at all during our trip but we did get carry-out while there and I would recommend the following restaurants:
- Birba – amazing woodstove pizza
- Kreem – delicious ice cream (even vegan flavors)
- Filipe’s Mexican Food – delish tacos & shrimp nachos
- Norma’s – we didn’t dine here this trip but have in the past and it is DELISH for breakfast/brunch!
