Again, here I am apologizing because the last book review I gave was back in June. I’ve not been good at keeping this segment of the blog the most up to date but that’s life. It’ll make it a goal to get better about it this fall/winter because who doesn’t love a good book, warm blankets & hot cocoa (or coffee, lots of coffee).
“The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett
I really enjoyed this one, guys. “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett was so well written and had robust characters that really kept the story line flowing & there was enough mystery to keep me intrigued.
I loved the story of two sisters – identical twins, to be exact – and the deep connection between them. They grow up in a small black community and run away at a young age together. As adults, they take on vastly different lives and even no longer keep in contact. Although they are black women, their skin is so light that one sister creates an entire life pretending she is white – not even her husband or their daughter know the truth. While the other twin returns to their hometown with her black daughter and desperately tries to find her estranged sister for many years.
The story line becomes so interesting as their daughters lives become intertwined. And thats where I’ll leave you with my recap because rumor has it, this may become an HBO series. Cannot wait for that!
