As I’m now in my third trimester (ah, where does time go?!), I thought I would share some of my maternity must haves thus far with pregnancy #2. Had I put together a list with my first pregnancy, I can guarantee it would look pretty different than the below. Mostly because with my first I refused to invest in maternity clothes (for the life of me I can’t understand that now). And also, I have a better understanding this time around of what’s to come and what just works for me. A few friends have asked what are CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT items so I’ve done my best to compile everything together for you!
The first item is this maternity pillow. This item may require a king size bed situation because its huge but it is WORTH IT. Any and all sleep you gain from this is WORTH IT. (ha, but seriously) I didn’t have one the first go around but this time I cannot sleep well without it. It’s basically like a doc-a-tot for adults. Trust me, this thing is amazing.
Going along with the theme of sleep, I have loved and lived in these pajamas almost my whole pregnancy and will wear them postpartum as they are nursing friendly. I can’t stress how comfortable they are and they really allowed for the belly to grow (I’m wearing a size small). I’ve also loved this cardigan to throw over PJ’s, so cozy!
I have had a hit or miss experience with buying maternity clothes throughout this pregnancy however, there are a few pieces that I’ve loved and rotate on a daily basis and consider basics at this point, especially now that I’m in the third trimester. I found that shopbop.com has had the best selection of maternity for my personal style and have purchased the following: this tee, these jeans (I’ve bought in both dark denim & black), this cozy sweater that I definitely plan to wear after baby, and these camouflage pants that are fun to swap in every now and then. Zara also has easy oversized knits, jumpers, and dresses and was my go-to for fun trendy pieces.
Now when it comes to leggings, this is a category all of its own. There are only TWO pairs of leggings I would swear by throughout my pregnancy. And trust me, I’ve tried them all! I’ve tried H&M, Gap, Old Navy, Spanx, Hatch, Splendid…and the list goes on. And they’ve all gone back. Here are the two holy grail maternity leggings in my opinion: LuLuLemon Align Leggings in Ultra High Rise & Zella Maternity Leggings.
Lastly is hydration. I’ve tried hard to drink lots of water throughout my pregnancy as I had a scary first trimester incident where I was needing bags of fluid due to dehydration (oops). Needless to say, this water bottle has become an extension of myself. It goes where I go and I try to drink as much as possible.
Hopefully this was helpful for any of you expecting mamas! I’ve also linked all of these items to my LiketoKnowIt account. Enjoy!
